Senior Solicitor Claire Wilson Completes the Advanced Advocacy Course

The Advanced Advocacy course at the Law Society of Northern Ireland is designed by the Society’s Working Group in conjunction with the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) in the United States of America.

As part of the course, Claire attended a series of lectures and subsequently passed an examination on the rules for evidence in civil and criminal proceedings. Claire also attended a practical, intensive 5-day advocacy training course in Belfast which was delivered by faculty members from NITA, alongside local faculty members. The week culminated in her participation in a mock trial held in the Royal Courts of Justice, presided over by a currently serving county court judge.

Claire says “The course was certainly challenging but that made the scope for learning and improving my advocacy skills so much greater.  In addition to the advocacy training, I also enhanced my skills in drafting and case analysis, all of which will be of great benefit to my clients".
