We are delighted to announce that we achieved the prestigious ISO:27001 Accreditation earlier this year.
In a world where all aspects of life are increasingly dealt with electronically and the “online” world is rapidly expanding, cyber security and information security generally are becoming more important than ever before. The International Standards Organisation (ISO) 27001 standard relates to all aspects of information security, both “real world" and "online”. A solicitor’s firm can of course be expected to treat the confidentiality of information from clients and others with the utmost care. Nevertheless, putting in place a formal system and having to adhere to a standard that is subject to independent oversight brings an additional element of rigor and discipline to the process.
Having the ISO:27001 Standard is becoming a requirement of corporate clients but also provides an important guarantor of quality to clients of all types. All clients can have an additional degree of assurance that their information will be rigorously protected to an even greater degree than before.
Managing Director of Napier Solicitors Joseph Napier said “This is a great achievement for the firm and builds on our trailblazing involvement with ISO and Investors in People from the days when we became the first law firm in Northern Ireland to have both ISO:9001 and Investors in People accreditation. It has been achieved by a lot of hard work by everyone in the firm and puts in place a robust system to guarantee the Standard going forward”. Denis McKay, Director with responsibility for quality and compliance said “I am very proud of the work done by all the staff in achieving this accreditation. Information security involves every single person in an organisation and requires constant vigilance to guard against all sorts of threats from bogus callers (in person or on the phone) through to ever more sophisticated scam or malicious emails. Having the ISO Standard in place helps keep this at the front of everyone’s minds”.
